Hi! I’m Andrea Hamann. I am an established freelance Planning, Public Facilities, Arts and Open Space Project specialist. I bring big picture thinking with fine detail consideration to projects, integrating my experience in the arts, design, landscape architecture, urban planning and public infrastructure. I also specialise in projects like art fundraisers and events.
I’m currently available for: consulting engagements or to run your tricky project.
I deliver projects from inception to completion, engaging discipline specialists,designers, artists and contractors along the way. I also slot into project teams bringing decades of experience.
I have over 20 years experience working on public realm projects, starting out in the Netherlands and the UAE, and focussing the last decade in QLD and NSW as a project manager. I’m one of those people who is both analytical and pragmatic, but as an artist and designer…i’m still creative.
I work with private clients, consultancies and government.
My professional background is in landscape architecture, art and design and project management, which means I don’t just run projects, but ensure the aesthetic, spacial and community outcomes are grounded in a solid understanding of how spaces work and how communities use them.
I am based a stones throw from Sydney, however, like most of the world have perfected the art of working remotely the past few years.
Public Open Space Projects
Public open space is my thing! I believe in providing quality public open space for communities. I can shepherd your project through all the stages, whether you need someone to developing the brief, undertake stakeholder engagement, engage consultants, secure planning approvals, go out to tender or supervise and manage the contract. I can plan your public open space project from a sliver of a brief, and roll it out to completion, right down to planning the opening day. I’m well versed in navigating local government internal and external stakeholders, and have a knack for ferreting out the right people to talk to to ensure the project meets the stakeholders expectations. I work with architects, landscape architects, heritage consultants and others.
Public Art Projects
As an artist with over 20 years experience delivering projects in the public realm, I work with organisations at all stages, whether it be providing conceptual or practical advice, public art strategies, develop art briefs, work with designers to integrate art into projects, or engage and work with artists directly and support them in the delivery of a piece. Whether it be a mural artist or an artist working with a designer to realise a three dimensional work, I can connect the dots and bring projects to realisation. With practical construction and maintenance management experience I bring a real world understanding of how art can be installed and survive in the public realm
Planning and Strategic Projects
Need someone to help you run a creative event, or set one up? Host an exhibition? Hang an exhibition? Have an obscure project you don’t quite know how to get off the ground? Try me. I’ve got a broad range of skills and experience… I’ve even been known to build the odd squarespace website.
Other Stuff
I have planned, developed and written strategic plans for public open space, parks strategies, and pubic facilities maintenance, and worked with consultants to develop masterplans for residential communities, DCP’s and other strategic documents. I am a good person to lead a project, or to slot in and bolster a team.
